Doc’s Orders

DaGoddess @ 02:13

Dr. Joe Early told me to get my kicks on Route 66. So that’s where I’ma gonna go.

Red Light, Green Light

DaGoddess @ 18:20

How do you deal with change? A friend and I have both been going through major changes in our lives (okay, mine’s been constant for the last five years). The thing is, I’ve turned myself inside out trying to find solutions. And then, when things were at their worst, I’d turn over the worry to God and He’d help me discover the answers to whatever I needed.

This made me think of the Jonny Lang song “Red Light”. Basically, do you spend these times of confusion all muddled and letting life slip past you? Or do you find a way to create your own green light? The path you choose may not be the one you anticipated recently, but it’s still a path. And the moments of “down time” when you’re dealt a hand that surprises you can be used to reflect, regroup, and begin the next leg of your journey.

Of course I sent this off to my friend.

Thanks!

DaGoddess @ 22:06

Big thanks go out to <3 Danny Gokey for including my post and photos on their site.

It’s always fun to share the excitement of a new discovery with others. It’s also particularly rewarding to have someone like what you’ve done.

If you haven’t already checked out Danny Gokey’s music, please do. I <3 Danny Gokey has a widget on their sidebar so you can have a listen.

Friday Night

DaGoddess @ 02:06

Here’s the thing: I’m definitely not an American Idol fan. I don’t watch. Never have. I think I’ve seen all of one full episode. You need to know this because it plays a part in this story. Y’see, I had no idea Danny Gokey was on the show. All I knew was that I’d seen one of his videos on TV and had heard a couple songs on the radio. And I didn’t go to the whole ACM Vegas Weekend thingy on Fremont Street to see him in particular; I went to see Lady Antebellum, but that didn’t happen and it’s another story altogether. The point is, I did end up seeing Danny and I had a fantastic time.

Unfortunately, my friend Darryl and I weren’t as close to the stage as I’d have liked (I rarely have to stand that far away), and there were some very big heads between us and the stage. Regardless ( Soto, anyone?), I managed to get more shots than I thought I’d get. And here they are:

Again, I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this was or how much I like many of Danny’s songs.

While I wish I could have held out long enough to see Lady Antebellum (my back was killing me, it was warm, I couldn’t breathe, and the crowd was too much), I’m exceedingly happy with how things turned out. My hope is that next time I’ll be standing at the stage getting paid to cover the event instead of standing back where I was and having to wait for someone’s gigantic, planet-sized cranium (“Well, that’s a huge noggin’. That’s a virtual planetoid. It has its own weather system!”) to move so I can shoot.

Bonus points to anyone who knows from whence the noggin’ quotes came.

Old Smyrna Road and Beyond

DaGoddess @ 04:00

Eric Sardinas…love this tune! Didn’t get to hear it the other night, but he played so many other great songs it kind of didn’t matter.

Just in case you think that’s not bluesy enough, well here’s a tune that rocks!

And yes, there are photos from the concert that need uploading. Story of my life.

Oh, one last one…

This May Be a Rerun, But I Changed the Ending

DaGoddess @ 05:10

I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this before, I just can’t find it.

Anyhow, I love that I can sit down in a bar with my friend on stage and get a shout out. “This song’s for DG!” Hey, it works for me. This is, honestly, my favorite tune…my second fave isn’t really available in a decent form on YouTube.

If all goes well with my internet connection, I’ll have photos up of Stoney soon. I know he’s already posted some to his Facebook page, but I have yet to upload them to Flickr (which is the only way I can get images on here since Windows 7/Flash Whatever and this version of WP don’t get along.) Yeah, I have so many photos to catch y’all up on. Some really fantastic ones, too. Until, enjoy Stoney and his kick ass music.

If Wishes Were…

DaGoddess @ 01:37

I’d so end up in San Diego in August to see…are you ready for this? CROWDED HOUSE!

Tickets are super expensive though. Oh well. I’m going to keep checking to see if they’ll end up in Vegas at some point. A girl can wish, can’t she?

Unrelated, here’s a song I love.

Gotta follow that one up with something lovely.

And really, if wishes were fishes, I’d grab hold of a big’n and hold on tight.

Digging In

DaGoddess @ 04:15

I’m hiding. Letting the music wash over me and the raw edges. Maybe I’ll emerge cleansed and refreshed.

I was hoping I could find Chris Whitley’s “Look What Love Has Done”, but that was not to be. Oh well, this one sufficed.

And then came Jonny Lang.

It Got Me to Thinkin’

DaGoddess @ 21:16

How many people do you think forget that there are real people out there defending Freedom? My guess: Too many. But you, my friends, I know you remember.

Civil War

DaGoddess @ 04:00

Scott Holt Band (who I just saw last week) playing “Civil War”. This band rocks!

All the photos I’ve taken at one particular venue may now be part of a presentation within that venue. I’ll know for sure next week when I talk to the guy putting the video together.

Loser

DaGoddess @ 23:03

Some day I shall rattle on and on about how much I love Cheap Trick and why I think they are THE band. I will. Until that time, here’s a rare one from the band:

By the way, I do feel like a loser since I won’t be seeing CT at the Belly Up in April. Just couldn’t manage that trip out or the $80 ticket for the show. Oh well. I’ll catch them somewhere down the line.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

DaGoddess @ 08:00

Forget that Ferguson’s a Scot, he’s playin’ with the Wicked Tinkers, dammit.

And now for some Tartanic.

And finally, an Irish drinking song as only Drew Carey and friends could manage.
