Should I Stay or Should I Go Now?

DaGoddess @ 14:57

Taylor Hicks is performing at the Belly Up tomorrow night. I have a pass for the show. I can’t take photos, but I could at least go and see him perform.

No, I am not an American Idol fan. Yes, I have heard Taylor sing and I like. His blue-eyed soul/bluesy approach is right up my alley. But, I rarely go to concerts without my camera. It’s not that I’m incapable of enjoying the performance without a camera, it’s more that I try to make the most out of the event.

So…

The question is: do I go even though I can’t photograph the performance? If you answer “yes”, tell me why, please.

  1. Would you have fun? Would it relax you? Would you get to socialize and is that something that you would like to do?

The year Taylor won was the only season we watched of Idol. I liked him from the beginning and loved watching him move through the ranks… but I thought McPhee should have won. I just thought she had the talent. Not that he’s not a good singer… it’s just different.
    If you know what I mean… ;)

  2. See, here’s my logic. They SAY you can’t bring in a camera. However… when we went to see Metallica in January, I was all “Okay, camera stays in the car,” but then they didn’t frisk me, only looked in the purse. And 18,353 other people HAD THEIR CAMERAS. So… I say if you have a little camera, go for it. I SO coulda pocketed mine and actually gotten REAL photos instead of the crap my phone calls pictures.

  3. I wish I had a Maxwell Smart-ish shoe camera to loan you. But then Taylor Hicks. Blech. I would stay home and watch Jeff Probst. I mean, uh, Survivor.

  4. Okay, turns out I’m not going to go. And I’m okay with it. More time with LD.

  5. Yeah, I’d save my money for when William Hung comes!

American Idol is a guilty pleasure at our house. We set the DVR to record all episodes and watch them back at our convnience. Those contraptions are the best thing since sliced bread.
