Back to the Desert

DaGoddess @ 04:00

Time to head back to Death Valley and share some previously unseen photos. This time, we head out to Badwater Basin, the lowest point in Death Valley.

  2. lol

y’think? figured it was as good a time as any to reintroduce images from the trip. Ran across a travel photographer who has some up from DV. I was on his site looking for AK wildflowers. I realized I hadn’t done Badwater Basin yet.

  3. I love the angle of photo four. At least I HOPE you tilted the camera at this point!

  4. It’s hard to tell if these are close-ups or were taken from space! Please tell me you weren’t taking pictures in space again?

  5. Yes, Lloyd, it was EXTREME PHOTOGRAPHIC ANGLE! time. I did no tilting myself.

    Erin, No space photos. Promise!

This was a section of the salt pan that was really quite a bit darker than you normally see. The rain earlier in the year plus the dust and dirt being blown around brought out a lot of the brown yuck. But the is still everywhere. Luckily, it didn’t get inside my camera or on my lenses.

  6. “I was in EXTREME PHOTOGRAPHIC ANGLE mode.”

Good. Because otherwise I was concerned there was more than mere water in your canteen :-)

The appearance of water in a Death Valley shot is unexpected as it is, but the angle of view certainly adds to artistic effect. I like this one a lot.

  7. I figured you’d like it. I don’t know why, but it has your name written all over it. Nature + Weird Photographer = Lloyd Likes It

The water was lower than it had been. I’ve seen photos the area when the water is higher and more widely dispersed. I was hoping against hope we’d have more water, but I worked with what we were given.
