Saturday Treasure

DaGoddess @ 22:42

Saturday morning, I arose early to get ready for a trip to a local brewery for a group shoot. I ran over to one friend’s house, picked up my 8GB card, and then went to wait on the corner for my ride. Ride showed up and off we went. Just as we were about to turn onto the freeway, “POP!” Actually, it was more than a “pop”, but I don’t know exactly how else to describe the sound. Anyhow, the passenger window behind the driver was shattered and glass sprayed into the vehicle. The brewery shoot was now just a dream. I called one of the organizers to let him know we wouldn’t be attending. Ride dropped me off home again and I considered my options.

I ended up calling my friend who I’d awakened earlier and who was, by now, fully awake. We decided to go for a walk. We headed up to the Sky Reserve. It was my first visit to this incredibly beautiful park, but it won’t be my last.

Among the many wonderful sights, was this:

The single leaf

And there was my Saturday treasure. Jutting up from the ground, no tree nearby to claim the leaf, it stood tall and proud. The light had found its way down through the canopy and highlighted just this singular brilliant leaf. Aside from creative presentation, this photo is straight out of the camera.

  2. Groovy, ain’t it? You’d love this spot, Pam. It has everything.

And that leaf is the happiest little thing I’ve ever seen.

  3. Wait a minute, let’s back up. A passenger window was shattered?! What happened? Were you shot at? You can’t just leave us hanging like that. Details! We need details!

  5. Marcie, we don’t know what happened with the window. We didn’t find a rock or any other projectile, just shattered glass. Wild, eh?

    And Jan likes my photo!
