More from the Liberty Station Sessions

These kids really cracked me up. And the expression on big brother’s face? Priceless!

The Boys

The Look

My physical therapist didn’t believe me when I said I was sometimes lying on the ground to get certain shots. Well, this was one set in which I had to be lower to get what I wanted to get. I paid for it after the shoot, but it was worth it, I think.

And then there was this couple. He wasn’t sure he wanted to have photographs made. Add to that my camera trouble (battery issues, then I had to borrow someone else’s camera and I had card errors — yikes!) and it looked like this was going to be a wash. Yet, when we discovered this shopping cart, suddenly everything took on a new level of fun.

As I make my way through all the photos — and there are a lot of them! — it’s as if I’m there enjoying every moment all over again.

Yeah, this is how it’s supposed to be. I’m supposed to be excited about the photos and I’m totally lovin’ these.

  1. Beautiful stuff, Joanie!

  2. Wait until you see more. These sessions were fantastic in so many ways. But mostly because LD was my assistant and we were surrounded by people we admire and respect. It lifts our hearts.

  8. I’m sorry you hurt yourself sometimes taking these shots. But the memories like that shopping cart ride will last as long as they do. Fun with loved ones can’t be beat!

  9. Love love love the shopping cart photos! Sometimes you really have to trick people into smiling for the camera, but I think those are usually the ones that turn out best.

  10. I’m so glad that your photography is bringing you joy once again. I can see it in the shots, you know?

  11. Boy we could’ve used your photographic wizardry on our trip. We had some great family photos that could’ve turned out better except for the amateurs working the camera.

  15. Mrs. Who, looks like our computers are freaking out on the same sorts of things. Weird, huh?

And thank you all for stopping by and commenting, supporting my habit (lol).

Dave, I would have loved to have been there, but I’m kind of glad I wasn’t since I’d have fallen in love with those kids and you would have ended up with a houseful of kids…I’d have insisted they all go home with you.

  16. Wonderful! And you know at least half of this terrific result is because you are having such a great time too!

  17. I think you could have taken those pictures at midnight, the smiles would have provided all the light you needed.

    Comment by Peter — 2009/07/13 @ 15:02

  18. I was definitely having fun! But I paid for it dearly.

Still, well…you know. I’m such a sap when it comes to military families and kids and…

Yeah, those smiles do bring light and happiness to the world, don’t they?
