Don’t Dismiss the Miss and Her Pain
As you all know, chronic pain has been my constant companion for the past 12 years. As far as getting treated for it, I’ve been fortunate enough to be taken seriously. (We’ll leave the discussion about the insurance company and their shoddy treatment of me for another time, m’kay?)
But, the fact of the matter is that many women find their pain is minimized by the very people they turn to for help.
I read an title=”women in pain” target=”_blank”>exceptional article this morning to which I will now direct your attention. You can come back with your thoughts and we can discuss afterwards, if you’d like. I’ll be here.
Sorry it’s so hard for your pain to be taken seriously, particularly by insurance companies. Sadly the epidemic of prescription painkiller abuse has jaded too many and given rise to regulations that often hinder those who need it most from getting the proper drugs or treatment.
BTW, just posted a long-overdue update on my blog if you want a little reading material. I still do occasional updates when I get the overwhelming urge to do so.

Dave, my pain has been addressed by healthcare. The insurance company has acknowledged as well, but doesn’t care about anything other than their bottom line. So, I’m fine on this. However, far too many women and girls are summarily dismissed when it comes to pain and it can become very dangerous for them as we all know pain is an indication that something is wrong in your body! How many women or girls have ended up in even worse shape because a doctor or nurse didn’t take their complaint of pain seriously enough to investigate the cause? If the answer is even ONE, that’s one too many.
Your mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, etc., are the victims and you need to help them speak up for themselves if they are ever in this situation.
I’ll be checking on you a bit later today. You know how I love updates!
