  3. That’s wonderful! It reminds me of old churches you’d see out in the middle of nowhere, Texas… except for that stovepipe. ;)

  4. pretty cool, eh? It was right across the street from the big Nenana Ice Contest tower. Every year, they put a huge wooden tripod out in the middle of the river. It’s tethered to a stake onshore. When the river begins its thaw, the tripod breaks free, triggering a clock that records the date and time. There’s a huge lottery involved. It’s MAJOR. I have a feeling lots of people go to the church and pray they win the melt lottery.

    The church was lovely, but the difference between the sky and the wood…the exposures were so far apart, it was difficult to shoot properly. The sky was blown, but I didn’t care. I kind of like the scruffy B&W textured look for this image.

    And yeah, old churches are special to me, too.
