Come Fly With Me

DaGoddess @ 04:00

As I said in a comment over at Rapid Eye Reality a couple days ago:

I stood at the edge of a runway two days ago and watched my son and my daughter float off into the air, pure joy on their faces. And I was both thrilled and terrified because I wanted them to have fun and I also had no way of knowing that they’d come back to me in one piece. Life is kind of like that. As they get older, you just have to trust that they’ll keep coming back to you, happier for the experience of soaring above the clouds, happier because you loved them enough to let them do so.

I don’t know that I could ever say it any better than I did then.

  2. What a pretty girl.
All mine would probably freak out before they’d ever do what yours just did.

  3. Many years ago, my wife bought me a glider ride for my birthday. One of the coolest things I’ve ever done. Very cool. I was very surprised at how loud it was!

Good on ya mom for letting them go!

  4. Sailpkaning is certainly one of the most exciting things I have ever done, what a wonderful experience for your kids.

  5. Well, I don’t think anyone would ever accuse my kids of being shrinking violets, that’s for sure!

  6. Coolness! I don’t know if I could ever do what they did. Not that I’m afraid to fly, but locked up in a tiny, unpowered glider – now that takes more than what I currently got.

  10. I got a glider flight as a birthday gift when I was 13. It’s still the most fun I’ve ever had and it lead to my learning to fly. My bud, Chowmi, who now flies F-16’s for a living, started out in gliders as well.

    Great shades on LD!!!!!
