Auld Lang SyneShould auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
And here's a hand, my trusty friend
And gie's a hand o' thine
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne
Harry: What does this song mean? For my whole life I don't know what this song means. I mean, "Should old acquaintance be forgot". Does that mean we should forget old acquaintances, or does it mean if we happen to forget them we should remember them, which is not possible because we already forgot them?
Sally: Well, maybe it just means that we should remember that we forgot them or something. Anyway, it's about old friends.
To all of you: Thank you for making this year brighter and better than I could have ever dreamed. Thank you for your generosity, warmth, well wishes, friendship, and love. Thank you for making me believe in the power of friendship, community, and humankind.
During one of the more difficult times in my life, I was given the gift of hope. I will never forget that. I will always remember the hands that reached out in my time of need and showed me the way up out of the darkness.
I'm truly grateful for all the many ways you've touched my life.
I was so blessed to have met several people who have shown me what it means to be a friend, one who taught me what it means to be truly loved, and those who have guided me on an amazing journey that has allowed me to help others, to really give of myself, and to broaden my horizons.
The dreams I'd started the year with aren't the dreams I fulfilled - and that doesn't bother me a bit. What I lost was nothing compared to what I found. And I realized that because your words of encouragement and wisdom.
2005 holds much potential. I'm no longer resolving to change this or that. I'm not growing big plans in my mental garden. I'm simply going to open my heart and mind to the possibilities that await me. Whatever is going to be, will be. And I will appreciate that which finds me.
I wish for each of you:
Love - that you are able to receive as much as you give
Contentment - not just fleeting happiness, but long-term satisfaction with yourself and your life
Success - whether it is financial, personal, or both, I hope that you realize your dreams
Faith - in whatever you believe, I hope you find inspiration and comfort
Friendship - may you be as blessed as I am
Please start the new year off right and be safe. Find a designated driver, a cab, a bus....whatever. Failing that, sign those organ donor cards and make sure your family knows of your wishes. But, seriously, be careful and come back to tell me how you celebrated your transition into what I'm certain will be the year that we discover just how lucky we all are.
I wish I could be in Lubbock tonight, but I'll be working. Whatever you do, be safe. Be SAFE. And have a wonderful new year!

Posted by: cowboy blob at January 1, 2005 10:50 AMHad the New Year's Eve experience from hell. Woman friend of mine decides to hurl inside my truck! Should not have convinced her to drink scotch...lol.
January is a very, very bad time of year for me. Parent passed away on the 3rd, coming up on 7 years, and as a result; I tend to utter spiteful words to those close to me. Lest we forget, "cruel words are like bullets from a gun, for once they're out; they cannot be retrieved." Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful 2005....especially one person.

Happy New Year to you, too. You were one of the unexpected blessings in my life for 2004.
