Why You Callin' Me A Ho, and Do You Really Have To Keep Repeating It?

Ho Ho Ho!

The Grinchette has left the building.

Yes, I found my Christmas Spirit. It was hiding in a red bag with feathers and tinsel...such an obvious place, and still, I didn't even think to look.

We had a wonderful spaghetti dinner over at my sister's house tonight. There was a certain warmth there that I hadn't felt in a very long time and I'm so very grateful that we could share it. After dinner, the kids opened gifts and played with one of Little Dude's new toys. Then, the kids stayed with my sister and my brother-in-law, my dad, and I headed out their '21 Rolls to look at Christmas lights.

It seems like such a simple thing, doesn't it? Buy gifts, wrap, assemble with loved ones, eat, open gifts, and BAM! Instant magic. It doesn't always work that way. But, somehow, no matter how much I think I'm done...how close I am to giving up on the Holidays...somehow, something happens to remind me of why this time of year is special.

Things aren't like they used to be. And that's okay. If everything went back to how it was, I wouldn't know many of you and I wouldn't have experienced many of the best times in my life.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings!

Yeah!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
And if my timing is right, it should be Christmas in SD about now. Santa is getting ready to limp to bed as I tripped and fell face first in the garage today, spraining my ankle pretty good. But I'm going to sit on the beach in Hawaii (our Christmas gift for the family this year) and drink frozen drinks with little umbrella's and if anybody makes fun of me in a swimsuit, I'll moon them. Love ya, Kitty

A ride in a ROLLS!!! OMG, what a treat! Can I get one? A ride in the Rolls, that is.

I was going to say if you didn't find your Christmas Spirit, I was going to spank you for losing it.

I commiserated with a friend who is also working Christmas and New Years. At least he's getting Double Time. I don't even get the Ho, Ho, Ho! Even Hos get Christmas off. (Just Kidding)

Glad you were able to find Christmas. It is all in your heart to begin with, but friends and loved ones being around sure do help.

Take care, and I am glad to join the chorus of wishing you and Lil Dude all the best.

... and a Happy New Year!

You have to have your own reasons for Christmas spirit, you can't expect anyone else to provide them, nor can you expect that anyone else's reasons are valid for you. So what if the image the commercials and specials present doesn't work for you (well, except for the Charlie Brown Christmas Special - anyone who doesn't get a glow from hearing Guaraldi's score and watching the opening credits is irredeemable)?

Yeah, the holiday is gaudy and commercial and phony in so many places. What makes it special for me has always been family. And the Christmases when I'm away (like this one), it's recalling good ones with the family and anticipating ones to come.

After all, Christmas is the most family centric Christian holiday, even without the gifts.
