Operation Critical ChoiceWhen: Sunday, October 31, 2004 at 12:00pm
Where: The Fountain at Balboa Park
Who: Protest Warriors, their families, and friends
What to Bring: American Pride, signs depicting the positive changes
in Iraq and Afghanistan, American flagsJoin the San Diego Chapter of Protest Warrior as we take to the sidewalks of Balboa Park on Sunday, October 31, 2004. In an effort to bolster support for the current Administration and our troops overseas, we will circle the fountain and provide the public with reminders of the millions of Iraqi and Afghani citizens who are now enjoying freedom for the first time in many years. We will stand united against all who seek to discredit the efforts of our President and our brave military. We will remind all of the economic gains made over the last four years. And, we will be a voice of reason against those who seek to promote the lies of the Left.
Highlights of the event:
Christopher, one of our younger PWs, was out of his cast. The Italians and the elderly Korean lady who just had to have their picture taken with us. The guy who wanted to hold our sign and have his photo taken. Meeting new members.
There was the bicyclist who got in our faces as he rode around in circles and yelled about what fools we were. We also ran into our "Kill Iraqis for Christ" guy prior to the the event. Oy.
And the very best part - seeing the look on the CodePINKers' faces when they approached the fountain! They weren't sure what to do. They stood at the bottom of the steps looking at us, looking at each other, and then looking at us again. Up the steps....they stood there again. "What do we do now?"
Later, after they got their little drum corps to join them, CodePINK came around again. One older woman came up, saw our signs and thanked us for supporting Bush. She held a sign as CodePINK made their way around the fountain. Once they were gone, the lady thanked us again and went off to join her husband.
Following the operation, several of us headed over to enjoy the Scottish Festival in progress. Many photos were taken.
Protest Warrior op photos are here.
