Jetlag and full-body aches + first day of orientation = One Happy Goddess
Yes, despite the fatigue and the soreness, I'm content with the way today went.
I sat through 8 hours of your standard "New Employee" paperwork and Power Point presentations. Watched several videos as well. Almost fell asleep, but was saved by caffeine.
Back to The Trip: You know a vacation was good when you need a week to recover and have no idea what's going on in the world. We turned the news on one morning and heard something about Bill O'Reilly. Nobody was interested enough to find out more and, frankly, I'm still rather under-intrigued.
So, where'd I go? The Poconos. Basic highlights: I flew into Newark and spent three blissful hours heading west on 80 ("and it won't take too long") to Caesar's Paradise Stream. Had a great room with a private pool, heart-shaped hot tub (roowr!), a round bed (that was surprisingly big), and dinner served in our room the first night. The lounge featured two great bands, one very funny comedian, and one comic who failed to entertain. The food was fabulous, as was the company. A drive up through Pennsylvania and New Jersey on Saturday allowed me to view spectacular Fall foliage. Sunday brought on a major air hockey tournament. You'll never guess who won. (Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me!) The flight back wasn't bad, but it left me feeling alone - my companion was that wonderful.
I'll write more later - I just wanted to drop in and give you the highlights before heading off on the awesome task of editing a million pictures.
P.S. I hate my new ID badge photo, and that's with a redo.
Update: Being the todd that I am, I misidentified the place in the photo. It's Blairstown, NJ. I guess I left my brains in PA.
