This afternoon, we held another Victory Vigil down at 10th and A.
Great turnout on our part....pitiful representation on the part of the protesters. They couldn't drum up more than ten people at any one point, yet we had Protest Warriors drive down from Orange County just to do this.
THE BEST MOMENT? While sitting at a stoplight, one man (obviously military) got out of his car, stood at attention, and thanked us.
Talk about getting a lump in your throat and fighting back tears!
That moment alone is why I'm out there with my son. If I had to stand there and do this just the two of us....I'd do it. Just so that man and others would KNOW that we care.
Posted by DaGoddess at September 24, 2004 10:33 PMYa; driving back I thought about that guy thanking *us,* several times... big smiles and another lump in my throat. Thanks muchly for the tutorial!

Glad to here there was no trouble.. also good to see signs of intelligent life in California :)
I think the protesters are losing heart. The closer the election comes, the worse their candidate looks, and the more frustrated they're getting. I wouldn't be surprised to see this happening all over the place.
Again, great job Goddess and warriors. You should all be commended for continuing to show your support for the troops and their mission. :)
Posted by: DakRoland at September 25, 2004 08:32 AMOh, and that round trip? 200 miles... and worth every foot of it. The Boys said they had a great time as well (although I need to order more flags! :)

The funny thing is that Kerry isnt their candidate, "anybody but Bush" is. That's why I suspect were going to win

That is their basic problem.. they have no one to vote FOR only someone to vote against.
To be honest.. if a sane democrat was running I'd probably vote for them (Lieberman or Miller come to mind). I DON'T like Bush's domestic policies... but like many that's not so important this election.. its the WOT that matters.. the safety of this our great land.
Heh.. my vote will probably go to waste as Bush is six points behind in NY

Posted by: Velociman at September 25, 2004 02:41 PMWhat a cool mental picture - gives me goose bumps just thinking about it - can't imagine in person.
Thank you for sharing that.
Posted by: Tammi at September 25, 2004 06:45 PMThanks for the report. You guys are doing a great job.
Posted by: caltechgirl at September 25, 2004 07:59 PMTammi, it was Beyond Amazing. When that young man, that young Soldier got out of his car and thanked us, I proudly held my flag higher and said, "no, thank YOU!" When he drove off, I turned towards daGoddess with the sappiest smile on my face... I wonder if she heard the halting voice I felt as I choked back the tears. But that young man inspired me... I'll remember him for the rest of my life.
Posted by: hindmost at September 25, 2004 09:04 PMThanks for hitting the streets. I'm good that the silent majority isn't so silent anymore and that they're having fun doing it.
H
thank you for everything you're doing! keep up the good work!
Posted by: girl at September 25, 2004 10:20 PMThe important thing in this election (or any election for that matter) is to choose those issues that are most important to you, pick the candidate that you believe represents that, and get out there and vote.
You never have to be stuck "voting for the lesser of two evils" like I'm always hearing people say. It might be for the smaller parties, like the Green or Freedom Party, but if it means something to YOU, then it's never wasted.
Nice to see you supporting what you believe in.

Posted by: PCD at September 27, 2004 06:51 AMA Milwaukee talk radio host was taking calls today from parents of active duty service people, to counter a columnist in the local paper who had found a mother hostile to the mission her son is carrying out. One woman whose son is in the Corps spoke of how pleased she was by the positive demonstrations outside Pendleton. Thought you'd like to know...
Triticale (Star Trek Fan) who was the host? Charlie Sykes? What's his name that subs for Rush? Who?
Klingon Captains want to know.
