You wanna know how you can tell what you're doing is appreciated?
AS THE TRAFFIC approached its pre-game peak, we took stock of the reactions that each side was getting from the passing vehicles. To the anti-war demonstrators, a few motorists flashed the two finger peace sign – but several more opted for a single-finger greeting. Our signs and flags, on the other hand, mostly evoked cheers and fist pumping. Some folks even leaned out the window and thanked us for “showing the flag.” One woman yelled to us “I love you guys! Keep doing this!”
Finally, about thirty minutes before game time, the anti-war crowd began to break up. As they headed for their vehicles, we seized possession of all four corners of the intersection, waving our flags and holding our signs up high.
First, the occupants of one car at the intersection started cheering. And then another. Within seconds, a whole block of 10th Street erupted in a cacophony of cheering and horn-honking.

Posted by: yayaempress at June 24, 2004 04:29 PMI was just blown away by SMASH. The hard work of truth always unmasks the deception of cheap peace. Thanks, Joanie
Posted by: Kathy at June 24, 2004 07:40 PMUnfortunately, didn't get to attend that particular rally - work called. However, I can tell you from the experience I had the time before that the feeling is incredible - knowing that other there are more people who are supportive of our troops and America's efforts to make freedom a reality for the people in Afghanistan and Iraq.
