Memories

Funny what memories we have of childhood. I remember a man trying to break into our house. I remember the shadow on the window of the door he was trying to open. I remember my mother shooing us, silently, into the basement, her grabbing the cast iron skillet and standing to the side of the door. I remember her crying after the man gave up - not breaking the window. I remember her shaking uncontrollably as she held us close and whispered, "thank God...thank God...thank God..."

The Boogy Man does exist. He just morphs into something or someone else as we get older.

Because the Broad brought it up.

Funny isn't it? Something as simple as a scent or a sound can set us off, back down memory lane. What an amazing tale!

I agree with you about the Boogy man. He does change as you get older. There's always something to be frightened of, isn't there?

I grew up thinking the Boogey man was a "Get down and Boogey Man", a.k.a. a J.J. Walker type of guy, more silly than scary.
