No(se) More Super-Sizing

My nose actually resembles its former self.

Super-sized be gone! Woo hoo!

The first set of packing removed was uncomfortable. The second set was exceedingly painful. The splint removal was horrendous. The man had to reach up into nostrils with yardstick-length forceps, dig around, and then he gripped the forceps with both hands while his feet were on the chair in front of me. He yanked and yanked and yanked. Finally, he gave up and called AAA for use of their winch.

Apparently the doctor's done this before because he had me hold a tray just below my chin to "catch" all the packing and such. At no time were my hands ever free to maim him.

He's still an asshole. Zero compassion.

But I can breathe. I can detect aromas. I can taste. And, my nose is back to normal size.

My dad gets extra credit for taking his heavily medicated daughter to the doctor. And for not laughing when I fell out of the car.

Glad it is over, and probably a good thing your hands were not free. Hope you continue to feel much, much better.

Oh, yeah. I can totally relate to the pain of the 'unpacking', which seemed [to me] to be worse than the freaking surgery.

Hope you're feeling much better!! :)

The good news: you didn't bust your nose when you fell out of the car!

Congratulations on the next step to recovery.

Holy crap. I think that's the most cringe-inducing thing I've read since the crazy woman chopped off the dude's feet and burned the stumps shut in Stevie King's Misery.

Good writing, though!

And hopefully good health.

Smart Doc, and smart Dad. Hats off to both. Glad you are doing better. Give us another picture after al the swelling is gone.
I think I missed exactly what you were having done, but it sounds like they cleared out the sinus channels for you. My ENT wants to do that to me also but, after hearing how it's done, I think I'll just suffer.

LORDS 'O LIGHTNING, sweetheart!!!! Was there NEVER an option of TOTAL anaesthesia (sp) ??? For like, MANY days???
You practically birthed a baby out your NOSE, for crissakes, and they couldn't let you SLEEP thru that??? You are SO NOT trying hard enough!
Despite all that, I wish you Happy Recovery! Now you will TRULY know how many people in the US don't have health insurance- by the way they smell. I DON'T have health insurance, but I don't leave the house either, unless it's to go pay my property taxes, and then I just FEEL good.

Glad you're doing better. I had a friend that went thru that shit a couple of years ago and she had pretty much the same experience. Of course the doc won't tell you that there is pain involved in getting the stuff(ing) out, you'll just feel a "little discomfort".

Scuse me whilst I giggle. Poor munchkin. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I received a spam with this subject tonight and rushed to bring it here to you: nose protocols

It was just so fitting. Glad you have your proportionate nose back!
