Therapy

Upon awakening, Goddess Crankypants was gone. She came charging back into the room a little later on when, after 15 phone calls, she'd had enough B.S. and not nearly enough good news.

So, I did what any self-respecting gal would do: I went to lunch with a girlfriend and then went shopping.

The funny thing about this is that I have previously loathed shopping. Malls? Ewww. Stores other than Price Club and WalMart? Blah! But all that changed when Mrs. Smash entered the picture. She brings out my inner chickness.

A fine lunch was had. I got to hear all about the Smash Vacation. Seems they had a wonderful time and came back refreshed. I'm glad. Mrs. Smash worked a lot before the trip and she needed a break. Vacation...and now a full-fledged chick day.

After lunch, we ran up to the grand opening of Kohl's. For the uninitiated, Kohl's is kind of like Target/Mervyn's on steroids. Not quite a huge department store and not really a Target. It's also new to Southern California. I had received a $10 gift card in the mail from them and figured I could find something there within my budget.

I ended up with a very nice little warm/cold eye/face mask. Perfect for my sinuses! Mrs. Smash grabbed some essentials for herself and Smash. In addition to the goodies, we had our girly-girl chick bonding and I ended up feeling more like myself.

Highlights from the day include handling Smash's underwear (get your minds out of the gutter! It fell on the floor out of the shopping bag!), vacuums, funky cocktail glasses, and discovering silicone bakeware.

SILICONE BAKEWARE! Mrs. Smash and I stood there stunned. How is such a thing possible? Does it heat the same? Do you have to adjust the temperature or cooking time? Well, we read everything we could find on the back of the packaging. Seems you may need to make some adjustments, but the bakeware is supposed to conduct heat well and cools off quickly. It's flexible and easily cleaned. Who knew??

Then there were the vacuums. I've determined that I want one that takes the same kind of vacuum bags that my current (gasping-for-breath) vacuum takes now, or I want one of the bagless vacs. The thing is, I don't want to see the dirt. I mean, YUCK! I managed to find a model that obscures the dirt with a cool blue dirt container. It's a Euro-Pro Shark Pursuit Upright Vacuum. I'll probably end up with this puppy before too long. I think I'll drop the hint to my dad tomorrow night at dinner.

I never thought I could get so excited over bakeware and vacuums. I think maybe the response was a little manic in nature based on the mood I'd been in earlier. Whatever it was, I walked out of the store feeling better. As it turned out, I spent absolutely nothing on my face mask thingy and it'll be a wonderful addition to my current regimen of pills and sprays.

Sigh.

My chickness restored, I'm feeling more like myself. [/crap mood]

My daughter-in-law just started working at the new Kohl's here in town. We took a walk around the store - Miss Penny left Jojo and I after we discovered the guy t-shirts with cool sayings like "Its funny until someone loses a weiner"...

Maybe I should send Miss Penny down with you ladies for a break...LOL.

My wife has had a silicone loaf pan for years now. It's held up incredibly well. The bananna bread consistently comes out great, and the pan makes little noise when the 16 month old drops it on the floor. It does cool down very quickly.

It is the reason we keep the house in a constant supply of banannas. In case we ever let a few start to go, we know there's bananna bread in the future. Yum!

Good news for you.
My dear hubby, who works for Sears BrandCentral, has given me the seal of approval on the Euro-Pro Shark.
Go forth and vacuum, I say!
LOL
Glad you had a lovely girly day. Those are the best.

If their vacuum works half as well as their steam cleaner I say go for it! That thing's amazing.
