1) You shoot at the second lowest resolution and your card runneth over. (I can fit 399 photos on the card at that res.)
2) The storage space available on the drive is practically maxed out.
3) You look at four shots, taken one after the other, and can't tell the difference between them unless you keep enlarging the image so that you can see the progression of a twitch.
4) You fall asleep while waiting for the upload to finish.
I spent Easter at the Wild Animal Park. I cooed over the new baby elephant, "Moose." I was trying to capture a good shot of the bull, Mabu, but got stuck with watching all the other activity in the area. 90 shots of elephants, a great conversation with another Park guest, and two chats with keepers later, I moved on to see other sites.
There was some sort of uproar with the lions. Rattling fences and ferocious growling, tails and paws swatting at each other, lunges at observers standing on the platform above. It was fun.
Made my way down to take a few more orchid pics and then moved on to see the butterflies. (200+ pics of butterflies - no I'm not using them all!)
You'll see. Lots of editing and uploading to be done.
WAP is truly one of my favorite places to be. Calming, comforting, and a pleasant distraction from many things in my life, it's like taking a vacation without needing to pack. If I ever get married again, I hope the man would understand and agree to have the wedding there.
Posted by DaGoddess at April 13, 2004 12:26 AMI've only been through Norhtern Africa: sand, rocks and dirty little people taking our money are the only memories to charish over the sweltering heat.
To go back there, I, personally, would have to explore...for the rest of my life.Unfortunately, I'm more inclined to sail this planet than spend an all-consuming life on such landlocked endeavors. If I ever meet this man I'll give him your e-dress.
Good luck, J ,

Posted by: loiq at April 13, 2004 01:15 AMOoh - a wedding at a zoo! That would be beautiful!!
Posted by: Rae at April 13, 2004 03:21 AMsounds like fun....maybe a visit in May!
Posted by: karen at April 13, 2004 05:26 AMI know what you mean about the photos. It can really piss me off when the rechargeable batteries decide to quit in the middle of something 'clickable' and you are nowhere near an electrical outlet. Nevertheless, digital cameras are cool.
I'd like to see some of your butterfly shots.
Posted by: Dr. D. at April 13, 2004 05:40 AMHave you considered a portable hard drive. I had one this last time we went on our trip. It held 20gig. All you do is pop in your flash card and hit the copy button. Pretty easy. Take a look at Adorama or B&W photo. I know they sell them.
Posted by: Joe at April 13, 2004 07:16 AMNow that would be a beautiful place to get married...
I love the San Diego Zoo!
Posted by: Orchid at April 13, 2004 08:15 AMI know what you mean about the photos. The Oregon trip two weeks ago yielded 300+ photos I have been trying to sort through. I have been trying to upload more pictures but the upload feature at blog-city has been kaput for two weeks. I've finally decided to get a new host.
Posted by: Azygos at April 13, 2004 10:07 AMIn order for me to get a portable hard drive, I'd need a new camera. I'm not at that point yet. I just need to carry an extra card with me if I'm going to shoot that much.
Posted by: Da Goddess at April 13, 2004 12:29 PMi've been there once... one day we gotto get back. one day soon.
and yes. pictures adictive. had to purchase a new drive just to store them all. ;o) but. still. love taking em!
Posted by: munin at April 13, 2004 03:57 PMI visited the San Diego Zoo when I was 8 and I remember how sunny and pretty it was. It made a big impression if I can still remember that!

Posted by: sugarmama at April 13, 2004 07:01 PMI think I took nearly that many photos of the alligators at some zoo on the weekend.
Okay, I lied, it was only about 8 or so....
And even then my memory card wouldn't let me see them :p
Posted by: Adam at April 14, 2004 12:20 PMI feel so sick.
