You know what some people do with their right to freedom of speech? They turn it into a perverse attack on the very people who defend that right.
I'm all for the right of The People to speak their minds. I'm frightened though. I'm frightened because there are people with no clue out there spouting words encouraging treason and advocating the death of our troops, unconcerned about the lives of innocent people of countries who've only known oppression.
It's easy to be blinded by the ideas that some misguided people spout to a crowd. It's especially understandable that our younger generations are so easily led by those who hold those beliefs.

It scares me, though, that anyone buys into those thoughts and that they ignore the hard work of so many people to give others the chance to live free and prosper, to find health and to secure the resources for their most basic needs, to give the children of war-torn countries a chance learn and to sleep a gentle sleep instead of one filled with nightmares.
The ISO isn't about peace or freedom. It's about promoting a specific agenda against the military. Against freedom. I don't think that my feelings are right, left, or anything other than humane. Whether you consider yourself a Republican or a Democrat, the one true belief that I think we share is the desire for those who've lived under a dictator's cruel hand to know freedom.
I think that young Rebecca needs to further her education. Four years at a university has taught her little about life. Maybe she should consider the Peace Corps. Maybe she should go live among people who have nothing and who know nothing other than poverty and oppression. Maybe then she'd have a clue.
Maybe I'm wrong. All I know is, after talking with Smash and reading the transcripts, that Sugarmama's quiz makes a lot more sense than Rebecca's warped views.

Posted by: sugarmama at March 22, 2004 07:20 AMOne of my latest posts came directly from watching all the protest marches play out on TV on Saturday...
Posted by: Christopher at March 22, 2004 09:04 AMLet me clarify that some more:
And because of such....ignorance...I had to let my own rant out. The fact that people can buy into this baloney drives me somewhere I don't like. The fact that such people can blend so easily in with these protest marches without scrutiny doesn't help matters. ANSWER loves being just out of the limelight.
Posted by: Christopher at March 22, 2004 09:07 AMI just hope she doesn't reproduce. She is like Ralph Nader and Jane Fonda has and orgy.
Posted by: JAMES OLD GUY at March 22, 2004 09:24 AMI found that link to the blog rather, well, disturbing to say the least. I have to be honest, I am so dumbfounded by the lack of intelligence and respect this person has shown, that I just can't write anymore.....
Posted by: Orchid at March 22, 2004 12:25 PMIts just these kind of people that would crumble if put in any situation even remotely as dangerous as those soldiers face daily. In fact as I stated over there.. the very people she is defending in Irag would blow her little head off in a split second without giving her a second thought.. regardless of her views. To them she and anyone like her who thinks they are doing good... are imbeciles
Posted by: Tudy at March 26, 2004 11:09 AMThis is sooo not something I would normally say, but YOU GO GIRL!
I agree with Da Goddess...on the fact that children are children no matter where they live or what kind of filth(parentage) they come from. They DO deserve to live without fear. Good for you.
