Message On The Calendar

I'm not allowed to mourn the departure of my guest until tomorrow. That's what he wrote on the calendar. At the end of that same week he wrote "End of Period of International Mourning."

He's so weird. I think that's why we got along so well.

He left me tons of Kleenex, too. You see, his nose started running horribly a few days ago. Now it's my turn. Actually, I awoke this morning with the whole sore throat/sinus thing again. Those tissues will come in mighty handy and I'll be forever grateful that he left them for me. Well, until I run out of them and whatnot.

With all the changes that have occurred in my life recently, it was a godsend to have company this past week. The house wasn't empty and that was a nice change. It also helped to have someone around to check out the new place with me.

The best thing about friends is that they expose you to different things. I learned more about the law. I learned that my taxes weren't properly prepared last year. I watched West Wing for the first time. I had Elvis, Liz Phair, and Sting in my CD player. That never happened before.

Still, one of the nicest things about having a friend here with me was that my waking hours weren't spent wondering what I was going to do or where I'd be going. It's funny how the absence of another adult in the house can leave you feeling lost. Somehow, I feel a lot calmer and more focused after having company.

Off to find a missing battery charger for a cell phone...and then to find a program that will allow me to burn CDs. Greg had installed Nero for me but that's a trial and doesn't work after X number of days. I've used it once and it's since expired.

Goddess,

"I am extraordinary, if you ever get to know me.."

Truer words about the Goddess were never spoken. I'm glad I had an impact. Don't worry, you had an impact, too. What was the name of that band again? Rugburns??

And last night's dinner was awesome & a whole lot of fun. So...we'll have to do it again soon. And bring the LA girl with, so she can see what she missed out on...

Now, to paraphrase Kevin Costner's last line in the movie "Silverado": I'll be back!!!

"Where's the dog, Payden?"

That's the trouble with those temporary installations, you get what you pay for and just as you get used to having them around they stop working and just take up memory.
