I don't know why I suddenly these questions came to me this morning. Don't know why they suddenly popped into my head after I'd had a tasty breakfast at the hospital before coming home. Don't know why I thought of these movies after standing around talking to an intern and a resident...with a big thing of pepper stuck between my two front teeth.
I suspect that Andy's brows have already forgotten me due to their advanced age.
I can only hope that Eugene's brows will be flattered.
"Cipher in the Snow" was simply one of the most depressing movies to ever be shown to school children.
And, I have a deep, nagging suspicion that "The Red Balloon" was shown so frequently because they had to...to provide balance for the fact that we had "Where The Red Fern Grows" read to us at least once a year.
Just wondering, is all.
Got answers to these questions? Elucidate for me, please.
One last question. Why is it that Kim only wants me for things like this?
Posted by DaGoddess at January 12, 2004 09:20 AMRed Balloon - I liked it - but yeah, each year was a little much. Were the teachers just out of ideas, or what?
Never saw the Cipher one. Sounds awful.
Why is it that we studied the Civil War - every year? Learning nothing new.
In fourth grade our teacher read us Charlotte's Web. She also made fun of the kid who fell asleep one time during her reading...She was a fun teacher.

Posted by: Phil at January 12, 2004 09:43 AMI love Andy Rooney - eyebrows and all :-)
Posted by: Cindy at January 12, 2004 12:48 PMI think they showed The Red Balloon so much because they probably owned a copy of it. I had to watch Nature's Half Acre every few months in my school for the same reason.
Posted by: David Kilpatrick at January 12, 2004 05:46 PMI LOVED The Red Balloon. My school district showed it to us only once - in 4th or 5th grade.
Maybe the best french movie ever made.
Posted by: cinders at January 13, 2004 10:27 AMOoh, I forgot about the Red Balloon! Also standing out to me as ad-nauseum repeats are the one with the magic pancakes (remember the animated dots?), and the one with the Navajo girl whose grandmother tells her that when the next blanket comes off the loom, she's going to die. Which she did. Cheerful stuff, I tell you.
Posted by: Babz at January 13, 2004 04:08 PMRed Balloon? never heard of it. But Where the Red Fern grow...I thought they were evil cruel monster creeps for continually showing that one. I loved that horrible flick. Not enough to buy it...
