Memory lane.
Yeah. THAT road.
Walking - no.....running...down it - at breakneck speeds.
E-mailed two of my former teachers.
Memories of the things they taught me are playing as the main feature this week.
I blame it on one of my coworkers who brought in a continuing education catalogue...containing the name of one of the most brilliant instructors I'd ever had.
Good? Bad? Who knows. Doesn't much matter.
I'm a dork, though. I e-mailed two of my former teachers today.
Some people around here maintain that I'm a dork without e-mailing anyone.
Posted by DaGoddess at December 27, 2003 09:35 AMIf that makes you a dork then what does keeping up as a pen pal with my 5th grade teacher make me? Hell she even came to my wedding!
Posted by: C.C. at December 27, 2003 09:45 AMIf I were a teacher, I would be very honored and touched to hear from a former student.
Posted by: dragonfly jenny at December 27, 2003 11:26 AMWe're all dorks, being a dork can be cool. ;-) I think it is great you e-mailed your teachers, I bet it will make their day! Make them feel they DID make a difference.
Posted by: Karen at December 27, 2003 11:42 AMYou are SO not a dork. When I've gone back to my hometown in the past, I've gone to the bars with some of my former teachers!
Posted by: Lawren at December 27, 2003 04:09 PMDaGoddess is not a dork. A kind, thoughtful woman, perhaps - but not a dork. Unless the definition of dork has changed a whole hellovalot. In that case, I'm a dork too!
Beth
There is nothing wrong with keeping in touch with people who influenced your life. That doesn't make you a dork, it shows you care. I've tried to get in touch with a lot of my teachers back home (from H.S.) only to find too much time passed for most of them. Keep in touch and let them know how they changed/directed your life while they are still breathing. It does matter.
Posted by: Wichi Dude at December 27, 2003 06:35 PMdorky is good! I am sure they will be thrilled to hear from you.It will probably make their day!
Posted by: karen at December 27, 2003 07:56 PMThat's not dorky! I think that's awesome! Go you!
Posted by: Ren at December 27, 2003 11:54 PMI think it's safe to say that none of my former teachers care to hear from me.
Posted by: Geoffrey at December 28, 2003 07:26 AMDid you cast a glance aside at me on that last sentence, or is it my own why-should-I-feel-guilty conscience talking? :)
Posted by: LeeAnn at December 28, 2003 08:53 AMYou are NOT a dork.
I love to hear from any of my former students. I don't often hear from many, but it does make me feel good when I do.
Posted by: KathleenWeaver at December 28, 2003 02:36 PMYou're not a dork. I keep in touch with two of my English teachers, and wish that I could keep in touch with two others.
I also wish I could t.p. my 10th grade Geometry teacher's house... but that's another story.
Posted by: Cam at December 29, 2003 07:45 PMI actually did the same. Once in undergrad, and again in grad school. Having been a teacher myself, I know how much that's appreciated.
