Oswald is an octopus. However, without his eight little tiny legs, he resembles a big blue ball. Blue Ball.
He says things like, "Oh Weenie, let's make a tent."
Weenie is his dog. She looks like a hot dog on a bun.
Another character on the show is Madame Butterfly.
The majority of the characters sound.....swishy. I have no problem with swishy. It's just that there seems to be a very odd adult undercurrent to the whole thing. Especially when you hear things like: "Weenie just loves to dance when I play."
I'm not the only one who has picked up on how disturbing this cartoon is on so many levels. I've heard other parents and adults say the same thing.
Go check out the characters, voices, and the general phrasing........It's weird. Maybe even a little scary.
Posted by DaGoddess at July 17, 2003 01:27 PMWith the G-kids, I have watched this cartoon, and I have also noticed the "adult undercurrent". I don't think it was intended to be this way, I certainly hope not anwyay.
Another one is "SpongeBob Stupid Pants" -I know I risk saying this knowing how you all like this cartoon!
There's more than meets the eye with these characters.
Posted by: Gordon the All Knowing and Self Actualized at July 17, 2003 05:09 PMThank you! I thought I was the only person who was creeped out by this show. Did you pick up David Lander's (aka Squiggy from Laverne and Shirley) voice as Henry the penguin?
Posted by: Kate at July 17, 2003 06:42 PMYes, it reminds me of drugs. So do the Teletubbies. I haven't done anything like that in years, but I feel high when those shows are on.
Posted by: Joe at July 17, 2003 10:30 PMI don't know... I can see where they're coming from. I like having weenie come out and dance and play. But I don't think any of you want to see that on television... well, maybe Joanie. :-)
