Idling at the Depot
Because the bitch train pulled into Cranktownsvilleburg Station with a full load, I may as well take this opportunity to finish a rant or two.
- Cacique bras - why the hell did they stop making The One I Loved Most In All The Universe? My breasts deserve a good showcase, don’t you think? And not just any display will do. They’re no longer the firm and perky pups they used to be. The Bra must lift the girls and cradle them “just so”. I’ve had to make do with their balconette, which doesn’t quite make the grade. I’ve also bought the plunge bras, but they’re not the wonderful pushup bra of substance I purchased last time. Lane Bryant discontinued those, too.
- I’ve already vented plenty in the past about network programming, so I’ll just recommend you cruise my archives sometime for those. I still think the big networks are horribly out of touch with the public and have little regard for us viewers.
- Clinique - there once was an eyeliner/shadow smudge pencil combo that was absolutely the best invention ever. It was very popular. Liner pencil on one end, cap with shadow powder and foam smudger on the other end. Again, it was super popular (they were frequently out of stock back in the day). Clinique, in their infinite wisdom, chose to eliminate this item from their stock, replacing it with a far inferior product — it had LIQUID LINER. Look, liquid liners only work for a small percentage of the makeup wearing population. It’s not easy to use. So why force us to use it? I told Clinique to fuck off and went with a regular non-Clinique liner pencil and separate shadow. They lost a die hard customer when they pulled that stunt.
- Price Club/Costco - last summer, they carried huge bags of New York Style Roasted Garlic Bagel Chips. They were a favorite snack around here. Yum to the hundredth power. Does Price Club/Costco stock them this summer? Nooooo. Bastards. At a regular grocery store, I have to pay over $3 for a bag 1/10 the size of PC/C’s bag. And that’s only if they have them in stock. I want my damn bagel chips back in the convenient 500 lb. bag, thankyouverymuch.
- Registerfly.com - sucks ass. I’m about to lose a domain because of their chicanery. They’ve lost their accreditation and can no longer serve as registrar because of their thievery. They owe me $75, which I can prove, and they have no valid contact information. More bastards of a decidedly more evil variety.
- The Healing Garden - I fell head over heels for their Revitalizing Green Tea collection. I can’t find it anywhere. All I can find is their White Tea stuff and it smells like bad bathroom deodorizer. I want my Green Tea body spray! I want to smell yummy again. I’ve called every local store that supposedly carries it and none of them have it or will order it. What’s up with that? I’m super picky about any scents I might choose to use and this is one I really like.
And since I complained so much about the deodorant earlier, I thought I’d offer up visual proof of my major confusion and general dismay. Look carefully at the photo below and tell me what about these two packages say “we’re exactly the same thing!” Deb had no idea what she was starting.
See what I mean? “Conditioning Solid” does not immediately bring “Soft Solid” to mind. And, and, and…grrr. The only similarities I can see are that both display the words “Secret”, “Olay”, “Anti-perspirant/Deodorant”, and show the same weights.
1. I am 100% with you on the bras. That was my favorite, too. And the new ones aren’t consistent sized, either. The band sizes DO not match what the tag says. Bad quality control.
2. The bagel chips are in MY costco. Can you try a different one?
I hate consumer products companies, in general.

You have the chips? YOU HAVE THE CHIPS??? None of the local stores have them. I’m officially jealous.
With the bras, the Plunge? The band is far too short based on what the tag says. And they don’t go up beyond a certain point, which makes wearing one almost painful. Bad quality control as you say. Indeed.

Victoria’s Secret doesn’t carry bras in my size. I haven’t been in their size range for quite a while.

You should check ebay for your Clinique and Healing Garden stuff. A lot of ebayers keep their ear to the ground, and when they hear a product is going to be discontinued they buy up as much as they can and resell it. I’ve had a lot of luck finding discontinued products there. You should also try googling. Sometimes you’ll find small vendors who actually still sell what you’re looking for. Good luck!

I’ll have to go the ebay route as WalMart won’t order anything for me. I actually did find the Green Tea stuff on ebay, but until my paypal account is taken care of (after 5 years of having a “donate” button, they’ve just now decided that I must be a non-profit/charity organization and want documentation, despite three phone calls and several more emails). If it’s not one thing, it’s another around here.

You are on a serious roll! And those are clearly two different deodorants that happen to have quite a bit in common. I wouldn’t have guessed they’re the same.

Tinsenpup, thank you for validating what I thought all along. I thought I was going crazy for a while.
Oh, and get this: somehow or another, a couple of the gals at the pharmacy and I got on this very subject again yesterday and I was glad to find I wasn’t the only one in my little town to be so totally frustrated over these things.
Sigh.
