Comfort Schmomfort

DaGoddess @ 14:22

Hola, mi amigos. No, I’m not going jLopez on you, I’m merely attempting levity at a time when there is not much.

Remember back in 2009 when I shattered a tooth and required a crown? Ow! My least favorite accident and one of the most costly.

Guess what THREE shattered teeth feel like! Better yet, guess how much the crown work costs for three? $2800.

That’s the bargain rate of the century.

And yet, it’s well-beyond my means, not to mention my level of tolerance.

Before they’ll even start work, they want a minimum of $700 paid. I’m about $685 short.

If we add this in with my house sitting at a place with broken air conditioning, you can imagine my comfort level at the moment.

  2. it all started Monday with the incessant vomiting. all that bile and violent erupting just took out what was already likely happening. came home, slept, got up, attempted to eat (once again…mashed potatoes), and there they went. two lower molars, one upper. spent yesterday searching for a dentist who could work out a deal with me – even tried a dental school – and $2800 is the lowest. compare to the $1300 I paid for one crown, that’s a bargain.

My photo gig is still at least a week away (if it doesn’t get pushed back AGAIN), so I don’t know what to do.

For now, lying in bed with an ice pack on my jaw and ample vicodin pumped in every few hours, I’m okay, except for the continuing nausea. it’s relentless, I tell you. I’ve learned to love lemonade gatorade but only if I drink it while my head is tipped to the right. gotta avoid contact with what remains of the teeth on the left.

finally back at home, where the ac is working. the one good thing about this is between the vomiting and inability to eat, weight is starting to come off. but it looks horrible since it leaves flabby loose skin

  3. All I can say is you have my sympathy! I think I’d rather face a torture session with the Maquis de Sade than the dentist!

  4. Monk, I would love any dentist right now. That is how much this hurts. From what the choosen dentist says, I can avoid root canals (thank God, because that’d be another $2k) if we do this in the next several days. I’m praying…
