B.B. Freakin’ King
Oh yeah. Ohhh…yeah.
What a night!
I still can’t believe it. I finally saw B.B. King. I loved his stories. I loved hearing him sing and play. Mostly, I loved meeting him.
YES! I met him and spoke with him for a few minutes. It was…amazing. A-maz-ing. Humble. Warm. Kind. Lovely all the way around. I want to weep over the depth of what this experience meant to me.
The one photo I have of my friend Curtis and B.B. in conversation is the worst of the bunch technically, but the moment itself was priceless. It became a bit of a mutual admiration moment. I started to tear up as Curtis told B.B. how he’d genuinely changed his life and musical aspirations. His sincerity struck B.B. so much that this…this thing…it was like a spark…it happened. Suddenly it wasn’t fan talking to idol, it became something more. The connection was pure and beautiful. I wanted to cry just seeing it happen. And that photo didn’t even turn out very well. That’s life, though. I got to see it and that’s what matters.
The best photo of B.B. wasn’t taken by me, but it doesn’t matter. I got to meet The King of the Blues! And I got to witness something special.
Endless thanks to my friends for including me in this incredible evening. You’re the best!
Wow; how thrilling!! :yay:

He stared at my breasts, told me I could press up closer to him, and then thanked me for sharing. lol
Granted, my cleavage was obvious and when I crouched down beside him for a photo, my dress slipped a bit and my bra was apparent. (D’oh!) Still, he was very funny and sweet and if he wants to compliment a girl on her bosom, by all means, he should! I’m not going to stop him.
And now I’m giving my camera to the guitarist because he got better shots than I did. I’ll have to work awfully hard to learn guitar though if I want to be even 1/100 as good as he is.

Great photos. Too bad you couldn’t have had your boy with you, the photos really would have been priceless.
BTW, you need a “jealous” emoticon…

Talk to Pam about the emoticons. She’s my guru.
And yes, I would have loved to have LD along. I would pay anything to give him a moment like that.

Dang! You’ve one-upped me! I’ve seen him twice, but never got to meet him. I absolutely adore that man.

So jealous!!!!! I got to see him live a few years back – totally cool… would love to meet him and shake his hand for all the great music he’s produced and inspired.

Les, that’s exactly how I feel.
I really never thought I’d be in that position. Surreal. Yeppers.
I’m still :may:

I saw him back in ’91, and felt privileged to witness such a legend. It’s amazing that he’s still out there, performing, and I’m so stoked for you that you got to meet him!
Love and miss you!

I think I remember you telling me that, Carolyn, and I recall being extremely envious.
It’s taken long enough, but I finally got to see the King of the Blues and all is right with the world as far as I’m concerned.
Who’s next on my Must See list? I don’t rightly know at the moment.
