Four Years
Acerbic. Irascible. Belligerent. Funny. Adorable. All of that and more.
I can’t believe that old cracker has been gone for four years. I still see him around. He shows up in the most unlikely places. I hear his laugh. His voice breaks through the din of the crowd in a smoke-filled bar. He sends crickets after me! His phone number is still programmed into my cellphone, dammit. He CAN’T be gone!
But he is. And I miss him very much.
I think he’d also get why I picked this tune.
These two are entirely for Rob, though.
I love you, man. I know the music where you are is beautiful because I’m pretty sure you’re leading the band.

Some people can heal and tear our hearts irreparably apart. Sounds like Rob was one of those special human beings.

Yep.
I danced beneath a full moon AND partial eclipse in the middle of the desert…naked…in his honor. I couldn’t find a waterfall. (He’d get that)
I finished my little tribute by having “our breakfast”

I’m sure he appreciated that!
And yes, I believe that those who have gone before us are watching over and praying for us.

I could have sworn I heard his laughter rolling across the desert early this morning. Really and truly.

Yeah. I don’t forget him, either. But knowing he’d achieved a kind of funny immortality would have pissed him off. Ah, well.

And, lest anybody doubt he reaches out from beyond, this was at the top of the “iBlog Shuffle” that is Gutrumbles today. That’s just freaky.

As I recall Rob was a zinfandel man. A deep, complex and pungent brew, my kind of plonk. No such variety here in NZ unfortunately, so its a single malt in my glass and “wasting away in margaritaville” on my guitar. Big love bro – save a space for me in valhalla! :toast: :toast:
